“How wonderful it was to be in beautiful Lake George. What made it even better was the high quality program experienced by the attendees. The lectures were all well attended so that everyone knows that the selections were well thought out.
It was amazing that each and everyone on the committee had their assignments and they certainly followed through so that nothing was left to go wrong. It was planned perfectly and engineered to a fine tuned operation. It was wonderful to be an attendee. Thanks you for inviting me.”
- Betty Hanna, Executive Director, IAHCSMM
"For my first time at a seminar it was a learning experience. Learning more information and different ways other fellow employees use was wonderful. Meeting people from all over, I’m going to take what I learned this weekend to my fellow employees and share what I learned."
"Very good program – meeting well organized a lot of hard work from very dedicated people. See you all in Niagara!"
"Overall the seminar presented a great deal of learning and networking with peers. I have learned so much from American Reprocessing perspective that I can take back with me and share with colleagues back in Canada. It’s also great to learn that we are not alone with our challenges and this is something that happens anywhere you go but we are all on the same page when it comes to following best practices. I am hoping to be back next year since it is closer to home, Niagara Falls is a great place and so is Lake George. I had an excellent time. Thank you, Rosaline Tierra, Sunnybrook Health Services, Toronto, Ontario, Canada"
The NY State Association of Central Service Professionals 6th Annual Educational Seminar and Vendor Exhibit a Success at “Putting the Puzzle Together”
Lake George
This year as always Lake George was beautiful! The weather was perfect and the town as usual was busy with tourist. Thursday night we were welcomed by a beautiful display of fireworks on the lake which we enjoyed from the hotel veranda. The hotel veranda this year provided an excellent opportunity for networking and getting to know our friends from all over NY State, Canada, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and the New England region. The mountain and lake views were breathtaking and the hotel staff was fantastic as they demonstrated their gracious hospitality and gave the best of themselves to our conference attendees. Kudos to them for an excellent job in catering to our crowd!!!
The Educational Seminar and Vendor Exhibit
The meeting was another success for the New York State Association of Central Service Professionals. For the one hundred and forty attendees who joined us, they were part of another history maker for our New York Chapters. We would like to acknowledge our friends from the other side of the border –Canada as once again they were present. Thanks for making our goals yours.
The meetings started early and the attendees had the opportunity of listening to a wide range of topics that influence the Central Service Sterile Processing Technicians jobs daily. You hear and read a lot about keynote speakers for any organizational programs, but I would like to state that all our speakers were exceptional speakers. The program this year included an array of diverse topics in the industry of central sterile processing and human relations. The networking opportunities that the program offered will be unforgettable to all of those who attended the program.
We were indeed honored to have as part of our program, our IAHCSMM President Richard Schule and our Executive Director and pillar of our Organization Betty Hanna. Both of them were sponsored by IAHCSMM. They shared with the attendees IAHCSMM’s beginning stories, our present status and our future goals. These are indeed exciting times and work in progress for the Central Service profession and a great time to be a Central Service Professional. Among the faculty we had world recognized and respected in the industry of Sterilization and Material Management speakers such as Nancy Chobin, RN, CSPDM sponsored by Getting/Castle; Steven R. Mayfield, BS, MBA, PhD, sponsored by American Hospital Association; Carole Van Antwerpen, RN, BSN, CIC sponsored by the NY Dept of Health; Jo Harbaugh, RN, BS, CGRN sponsored by Olympus America; Becky Frederick, sponsored by United Bio Tech; Marcia Hardick, RN, BS, CSPDT sponsored by Steris, Corp.; Ray Taurasi, MBA, CRCST, ACE, CHL, FCS, sponsored by Healthmark; Chuck Hughes, BS, sponsored by SPSmedical; and Charles Hancock, RAC, sponsored by Charles O. Hancock, Associates, Inc.
Certainly the speakers and the topics brought to us by these exceptional speakers are most without doubt part of the puzzle we are trying to complete in our journey of providing the best care possible for our patients and customers. We thank our speakers and their sponsors for providing us with such educational enhancement opportunity.
This year the NYSACSP provided scholarships to members of our six affiliated chapters. The scholarship consisted on providing the winners with all of the expenses paid to attend the seminar. This year the winners were: Betsie Caiello, CNYACSP Chapter; Jose Baby, LIACS Chapter; Susan Guinane, NENYHCSP Chapter; Pina Campbell, WNYASPDM Chapter; Curtis Robinson, GRFLCSP Chapter. Congratulations to the Winners!!!
Our 6th annual educational seminar could have not become a reality without the support and sponsorship of our Corporate Sponsors. We would like to acknowledge their contribution as they are a major support system for us. Our corporate sponsors are: Advanced Sterilization Products, Aesculap, Healthmark, Jarit, Kimberly Clark, Mobile Instruments, TRE, and United Bio Tech. Thanks to our entire sponsors and mark your calendars for our 7th Annual Educational Seminar to be held in Niagara Falls, NY in 2009.
