Northeastern New York Healthcare Chapter of Central Service Professionals (Albany Area)
Chapter News:
Farewell Peggy Thew
After
more than 30 years of devoted service to the healthcare profession,
Peggy Thew, one of the cornerstones of the New York State Association of
Central Service Professionals (NYSACSP) passed on the baton to her dedicated
staff and started the journey of retirement. For many years Peggy, a registered
nurse, worked at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, NY. There she
worked in clinical areas like the emergency room, and the operating room
until she took on the SPD challenge. Peggy began to improve the department
and educating her staff. She gained central services protocols knowledge
and achieved herself the CRCST and the CHL certifications. She conducted
continuing education courses to help her staff also achieve their certification.
The process was rewarded by her department being the first known SPD
department in NY State to achieve 100% staff certified. Kathy Kazar, one
of the CVPH Medical Center SPD technicians’ said “Peggy has been
our inspiration and we owe our knowledge to her dedication, we are
certainly going to miss her.”
Peggy
became very active with the Northeastern NY Healthcare Chapter of CS
Professionals and traveled 2 hours to attend the Chapter meetings.
Peggy never missed a meeting!!!! When the NYSACSP was born Peggy became
a chapter representative and later became the Associations’ secretary.
Just as she had demonstrated her passion for the profession and her
staff, she also carried out her passion for mandatory certification.
Peggy’s’ dedication
to the NYSACSP was always present and her notes were nothing but perfect!!!
Our NYSACSP is proud to have had Peggy as one of our leaders.
Peggy’s retirement was celebrated at a local restaurant in Plattsburgh,
NY. She was surprised by a room full of her staff, colleagues, friends and
family. Without doubt, Peggy was well liked and loved by all who came to
know her at the CVPH Medical Center and the NYSACSP family. We wish our friend
Peggy Thew a happy retirement and good luck in her future endeavors!
