Q. How do you become a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through IAHCSMM?
A. There are a few different options for people that wish to become certified. Each is briefly reviewed below:
Books and Materials: Each certification preparation option requires
the IAHCSMM Central Service Technical Manual, Seventh Edition and the
corresponding Workbook. More information about the course materials
can be found at: http://www.iahcsmm.org/cstechpub.htm
Additional information: All of the options above also
require a 400 hour hands-on experience component. That hands-on experience
component is developed to give the student a set amount of experience in
a variety of common job duties. Information on hands-on experience component
requirements can be obtained at: www.iahcsmm.org/pdf/CRCST.pdf
So there are three steps to IAHCSMM certification:
1. Study the materials (through a formal class
or on your own).
2. Complete the required 400 hours of hands-on experience.
3. Successfully complete the CRCST certification exam.
